Neopren Edition
NEOPREN EDITION is the visual - arts division of the Swiss / German / French label NEOPREN RECORDS.
NEOPREN RECORDS has been very active in multimedia art scenes due to being based in 3 cities. Since its beginnings in 2006, Neopren has woven a dense fabric of contacts with young musicians who are active in the arts as well as their roles as DJs or producers.
Since Neopren Records is focused on electronic music of various kinds, it was only a matter time before they evolved to participate in electronic arts as video, installation-art, or interactive performances. The processes in which sounds and images are treated as electronic input can be very similar. The gear the artists use is often basically the same, and the will and methods to experiment with electronic/digital modifications of sounds, pictures, shapes or other data / content does not actually differ between music and images.
This is why Neopren Records and its visual division Neopren Edition have begun a cooperation with the internationally active art-DVD edition ArtAdventures, based in Berlin. The aim is to release 2 to 4 DVDs a year with a focus on illustrating new tendencies in urban audiovisual culture.
This may include collections of short art videos or "video-clips", short movies, documentaries or filmic protocols of installations or performances. The organization and curation of any kind of events (exhibitions, concerts, screenings, performances) in the intersection between electronic music and arts will be another main activity of NEOPREN EDITION.
The goal will be in making artists from different (European or non-european) cities work together on common projects. And - why not - confront the club / party-scene with visual or other arts far beyond the all-invading stroboscopic VJing.
